San Juan 10-22-16

My flight to San Juan was direct while Debbie had to change planes in Tampa.  I arrived an hour and a half before she did.  When she landed we gathered luggage and headed to the taxi line which was long now.  Before she got here it was empty but apparently 3 planes landed at the same time.  Really it moved fast and we were on our way.  The port where Celebrity is docked is call the International dock and is in San Juan and the dock where we come in as a port stop here is called the American dock and is in Old San Juan.  It took about 15 minutes to get from the airport to the ship and we were on the ship 10 minutes after we arrived at the terminal.

We were both hungry since we hadn’t eaten since early morning so we dropped out carry on in the cabin and headed to the buffet.  We needed to book the shore excursions we decided to do so our next stop was the Shore Excursions desk.  Out luggage was waiting outside the cabin door when we got back and we tried to get everything unpacked and put away.

We have a two top table by the window at dinner.  We both had spring rolls and Debbie got the jerk chicken and I had prime rib and both were good.  We are both tired and we need to go to the muster drill at 7:45 before we sail…our muster station is in the casino…someone knows us too well!  It takes forever until everyone shows up but then we headed back to our balcony to watch Captain Kate back the ship half way across San Juan to turn us around and head out to see.  From the announcements she has made, she has quite the personality and we are both anxious to meet her.

We went to the comedy show and it was a black guy with dreadlocks who was actually very funny.  He was from Atlanta and talked about the carjacking’s going on in the area.  He said he never kept more than a gallon of gas in his car because if someone took his car they would run out of gas and he could catch up with them and get it back….good idea.  He said his momma wanted him to be a chef and tried to teach him to cook but he wasn’t good at it.  He said he earned to the title Home-Boy-Ar-Dee.  We were off to bed after the show since tomorrow we are in St. Croix bright and early.

Day one is done!

  1. Glad you two made it okay. I'm late to the blog, as usual, but for some reason I couldn't find it from my tablet and I was too lazy to get up and go to the computer. Anyways...sounds like you have a great table. Do you think the comedian knew Shawty Lo? Or "Two Bucks"?
